Global Pandemic was a shocking and scary time for most of us across the world. The uncertainty was real and oh boooi can I tell you I felt lost! With so much energy and creative ideas that never seem to stop flooding my head, after 2 weeks of constant training, yoga, books reading and generally enjoying my time I hit a brick wall.

Here comes 4Deuce Films

So as I am sitting in the kitchen chatting to my housemates, one of them, a talented director and writer - Daniel Glenn-Barbour, hands me a script of his first feature film and asks for my opinion. I read it thoroughly in one day and excited about the grasping story tell Daniel how great I think the script is. We both laugh and share joy (as he knows more than anyone that my opinion is always honest). Next thing you know, I offer my help with admin, coz why not, we are in the pandemic, when if not now is the best time to pick up a new skill and help your friend realise his dream that soon would become a shared dream within the production team.

And the rest is history

The months of hard work led the entire team to celebrate the finished product - 'Yes Man' feature film. The premier that hosted nearly 600 people felt like a dream, hearing the laughters and the outrages some of the scenes provoked. It was the one for the books for sure! And then the official distribution got secured letting anyone and everyone watch the film on some of the major streaming platforms (click here to access the range of platforms). As we continue to promote our hard work 2 years later, I can proudly say that the catalogue of produced films only got bigger and if that's even possible - more exciting.

What this experience have shown me is that skills really are transferable and that we shouldn't be afraid of exploring our many talents. Getting involved in the film production was a major catalyst for sparking my desire of becoming a movement director for on-screen work and I cannot wait for what life has in store for me in that department.

What new skills have you picked up during the pandemic? Or perhaps you dusted off some of your old gems that were lying on the shelf for too long?

with love,

Angelika
